About MAPU Association & Patagonia Volunteer
Patagonia Volunteer is a program of the MAPU Association organized within the framework of International Cooperation.
The Patagonia Volunteer program serves two very important purposes:
- Since MAPU is a volunteer-based organization, the Patagonia Volunteer program is the keystone of its growth and development. Through Patagonia Volunteer, MAPU increases its membership and it raises funds to pursue its aims. MAPU’s volunteers become members, so they can actively participate and have a word in deciding what projects MAPU will support.
- Patagonia Volunteer is also a valuable community social and environmental development tool that offers solutions to the locals’ needs, problems and interests.
MAPU Association is a non-profit based in Madrid, Spain, and in Esquel, Chubut province in Argentina.
MAPU has no hired staff or overhead costs, so the membership and volunteer placement organization fees go almost entirely to promoting development projects in Patagonia.
Neither the Patagonia Volunteer program nor MAPU Association receives grants from government or private company sponsors, which means that the program is supported by the volunteers and by MAPU members. Also, MAPU is completely independent of any political parties or doctrines, religious creeds, or economic links.
